Restringing

Reinvigorate your old pearl necklace by restringing with Clasped's interchangeable system. Choose from either gold or steel fittings and then restring with knots. Now you can close your pearl strand with any of hundreds of gemstone or precious metal clasps!

Restringing

We love to breathe new life into your old pearl and gemstone strands and once your beads are 8mm or more in diameter they can be converted to Clasped's interchangeable necklace system. This involves drilling the two end beads and inserting your choice of steel, 18ct yellow or white gold bayonet fittings before restringing the entire necklace with knots. Your necklace can then be closed with any gemstone or precious metal clasp of your choice.

Restringing ranges from €90 in steel to €150 in gold for an 18 inch strand.

Clasped is a range of fine gemstone, pearl and precious metal necklaces handmade in Dublin by goldsmith Eva Dorney.

Clasped represents a new innovation in the Irish jewellery, which allows you to customise your necklace by introducing a different clasp to suit your outfit, your mood or the occasion.

The system works using a tiny bayonet fitting (like you'd see in a lightbulb only much much smaller) so that with a push and a quarter turn one clasp can be removed and another introduced. Worn to the front, the clasp is both the closure and the feature of your necklace.

Your first clasp and strand is the beginning of a collection that will grow over the years and with each new addition, be it a strand or a clasp, the potential combinations multiply. Meantime, existing beads can be restrung with the interchangeable system, eliminating the need to double up on classics like pearls, while adding a modern twist to proceedings.
